The official newsletter of the British Columbia Highland Dancing Association. January, 2009
A
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
The summer has passed and fall is upon us.
That can only mean one thing, “Its dance time again”.
In the past few months we have seen scorching hot days, the passing of our
friend Mrs. Adeline Duncan, and BCHDA’S casino funds pulled out from under our
feet and then returned (Phew). This
year the executive will be trying to tighten our budget in anticipation of all casino funding ending in the near future. This can only mean one thing, higher
fees, more fundraising and more participation from you the members. But enough of the doom
and gloom. Your executive is
here for your dancer. We have and
always will try our hardest to provide the best venues, judges, and pipers to
make every dancer’s experience a happy and fun one!
We are already working hard to produce this year’s performance of the
Celtic Celebration. Look for it next
April 9th
2010
In closing I would like to thank all the members who volunteered last season (we
couldn’t do it without you) and last years executive for all their many hours of
dedication. I would like to welcome
all our new members to the association and say thanks to our returning members
for your support. Good luck to all
our dancers and I hope you all have a fun year with us as a BC Dave Moralek President A note from the
Technical Committee It has been brought to the attention of the Technical Committee that the dances for the Beginners are the same for each competition during the 2009-2010 season. It was felt that perhaps a little more variety for these dancers would be welcome. As several entry forms have all ready been submitted, and money paid, instead of changing the existing dances one dance will be added to the BEGINNER SECTION for the months of January and April only (November will remain as listed). There will be no charge for these added dances. The following dances will be added: January: Flora April: Seann Truibhas. We hope that all Beginner dancers will welcome this addition. Previously registered dancers will be contacted prior to each competition to confirm the dances they wish to do. BUY AND SELL FOR I’m not sure the
