There will be:

Dance Workshop
The workshop features special guest instructor Joy Tolev
(teacher of 10 time World Champion)

Times: Intermediate & Premier 9 & Under: 11:30 – 1:00
Premier 10 years & over: 1:30 – 3:00
Pre-Premier (recommended ability to dance Fling & Sword): 3:30 – 5:00

Fees: Dancers: $25.00
Teachers (fewer than 5 dancers registered for the workshop): $20.00
Teachers with 5-9 dancers registered for the workshop: $10.00
Teachers with 10 or more dancers registered for the workshop: FREE

Scheduled Presentations:
  • Special guest Antone Minard will talk about Scottish Halloween customs & traditions
  • Highland Theme Card making classes (nominal charge for supplies)
Volunteer Information Sessions (on-going through-out the day):
  • Scoring: learn how to use the Highland Scrutineer program
  • Line-Up: learn how to line-up dancers, including the reel!
General Interest:
  • Highland 101: all that a beginner dancer/parent needs to know
  • History of BC Highland Dancing Association and Highland Dancing in the area
  • Tartantown booth; need new dance slippers or other basics?
  • Used Clothing Rack (if you wish to sell off outgrown highland outfits, bring them along. BC Highland will retain 10% of the sale price)
  • Pumpkin craft table (nominal charge for supplies)
  • Halloween Theme Ghost Walk for younger kids
  • Tea/Coffee, cakes & shortbread will be available throughout the day

“THE CEILIDH!”
Stay for a simple dinner of Shepherd’s Pie, Salad, Bun & Dessert for the low price of $8.50 per person
Cash Bar/Drinks will be available
Door Prizes!
Dinner will be served at approximately 6:30
Join Joy Tolev and Mary Munro as they get everyone up and Ceilidh Dancing*!
(*Gay Gordons, Dashing White Sergeant, Strip the Willow & more)

Dancers are encouraged to perform a Halloween theme choreography (any style, does not have to be Highland!). This will be “for fun”, but the evening time will be limited to sign up early!
Performances can be individual or group. Please bring your music with you on a CD
